Charles Wesley Tercentenary Celebration Conference

This three-day residential event (with options for day visitors) has been  jointly organised by the Wesley Fellowship and The Flame Trust as a tercentenary celebration of the life and work of Charles Wesley.  The lecture sessions will be presented in a popular style to appeal to a wide range of interests.  The main speakers include Revd Dr John Newton, CBE, President of the Wesley Historical Society and fomer President of the Methodist Conference, and Revd Dr Herbert McGonigle, Director of the Manchester Wesley Research Centre and former Principal of Nazarene Theological College.  Apart from informative and inspirational lectures, the programme will also include fellowship, singing, a love feast, preaching and worship.

An amateur radio station will be set up to transmit live information about the tercentenary/history of Charles Wesley.

Using most amateur radio frequencies, it is hoped to speak to at least 200 amateur radio operators all over the UK and the rest of Europe.  It is expected that American and Canadian operators may be in contact too, depending on propogation.  A special callsign (GB0CW) will be issued by the Radio Society of Great Britain for this event.

This is a national celebration where the presiding minister is the Archbishop of Canterbury and the preacher is the President of the Methodist Conference. 

Seats will be pre-allocated on a first come-first served basis and are free, but those wishing to attend MUST register by post, phone or email, giving name, address, contact phone number, whether they have any mobility needs and whether they require a full music copy of the Order of Service.  Admission will be by the Order of Service, which will be posted out at the end of November.

Celebration of Primitive Methodism:
The speaker will be the Revd Dr Stephen Hatcher, Minister and Warden of Englesea Brook Chapel and Museum.
The celebration includes a short recreation of a 'Camp Meeting' with Moody and Sankey hymns. There will be a display of rare Primitive Methodist pottery and memorabilia.  The afternoon will end with a bring-and-share tea.

This is a residential event at which day visitors will also be welcome.

caravan pitches on land owned by the chapel;
camping facilities are also available.
